How was your CraveTO?

By on May 28, 2013

CraveTOThis past Friday, the Brick Works played host to CraveTO, Toronto’s newest street food, DJ and craft beer festival. Truck favourites Fidel Gastro’s, The Food Dudes, Rome’n Chariot, The Feisty Jack, Buster’s Sea Cove and Manual Labour Coffee were all in attendance to feed the masses.

CraveTO was the first big food truck event at the Evergreen Brick Works this year and drew crowds of hungry revelers who braved the lines and the cold for a taste of some of the best street food offerings in the city. I was really looking forward to this event since, really, how can you go wrong with a craft beer and gourmet street food festival?

I went to the event with a few friends and instantly encountered the sea of people waiting in line for the gourmet food truck eats, so we took the divide and conquer route in an attempt to try as many items as we could (I would highly recommend this tactic). If I have learned anything from previous events at the Evergreen Brick Works like Toronto Underground Market, the key is to go early to beat the lines or else you’ll be line dancing all night with fellow hungry patrons.

Despite the lines, the event was buzzing throughout the night with satisfied stomachs and delicious craft beers courtesy of vendors like Seven Lives Tacos, Come and Get It, Spearhead Brewery and Hogtown Brewers. My dish of the night would have to go to Feisty Jack’s Tikka Masala fries that filled the entire venue with its delicious smells, so it was difficult not to try it out.

For those who couldn’t make it to Friday’s CraveTO, you can check out what you missed here.

The next CraveTO is in the works for August.
