Toronto is getting its own Food Truck Alley

05032013-feistyjack-bollywichOver the last year, the Hamilton food truck scene has been flourishing with locations that have attracted gourmet food trucks from all across Southern Ontario. Part of the success came from the creation of Hamilton’s ‘Food Truck Alley’ spearheaded by local trucks Southern Smoke Truck and Gorilla Cheese, who leased out a plot of land and turned it into a haven for food trucks to set-up and serve. Now it looks like it’s Toronto’s turn to get its very own Food Truck Alley.

Will Randolph of The Feisty Jack has been working alongside Hamilton Food Truck Alley’s co-founder, Mike Pitton to bring this long needed concept into the heart of the city. Toronto’s Food Truck Alley will be located at 141 Queen St East at Jarvis in the Tire Source parking lot. Some may remember regular food truck services in that location 2 years ago and Randolph and Pitton look to bring it back to life as a spot where Toronto food lovers can go for regular truck fare.

Throughout the month of July, two trucks will be set up on Wednesdays-Fridays for lunch from 11AM-4PM. But if the spot becomes a popular one, they hope to expand services to evenings and weekend for Food Truck Alley parties.

Existing food truck owners can get involved just by applying via the Toronto Food Truck Alley website. For those food truck hunters out there, here are the trucks who are scheduled to kick off the spot this week:

Wednesday July 9: The Feisty Jack and I Love Churros
Thursday July 10: Curbalicious and The Feisty Jack
Friday July 11: Gourmet Gringos and Crossroads Diner

Toronto has been in need of a designated food truck location like this for a long time and hopefully this will serve as just a start to other spots like this to come.
