The top 10 dessert food trucks in Toronto

By on November 8, 2013

Dessert trucks torontoDessert trucks are the sweetest thing to happen to Toronto’s gourmet food truck scene! Whether it’s an authentic Mexican churro, a freshly baked and frosted cupcake or a slab, slice or scoop of other treats, it seems street food is developing a sweet tooth. Check out some of the city’s best mobile treateries.

Curbside Bliss Cupcakes
This Oakville-based truck, “the Sugar Cube”, is really a bakery on wheels with a counter-top oven that can bake 60 cupcakes at a time. Enjoy over 30 yummy flavours of cupcakes, including a handful of unfussy “man cakes.” Think: Jack Daniels… and bacon.

Choco Churros
This family-owned and operated truck serves up crunchy churros coated with sugar and cinnamon, and then, if you like, filled or topped with chocolate or (my fave) dulce de leche.

Beavertails Food Truck
Once upon a time, the beavertail was known only to freezing skaters braving Ottawa’s Rideau canal. Having sensibly migrated to warmer climates, Toronto’s Beavertail food truck now serves up these tasty, deep-fried pastries (like a long, flat, donut) with cinnamon and sugar, lemon, nutella, bananas and a handful of other sweet toppings.

Yogurty’s
Fro yo on the go, for those who love the DIY yogurt shop scene. This hot pink party truck with neon lights and a booming sound system offers up a revolving selection of Yogurty’s flavored fro-yo and a big whack of toppings, just like the store.

Sweetness Bakery
Specializing in cakes and fine pastries, the “Sweety Truck” is the mobile extension of the Hamilton-based bakery chain. Indulge in their signature inventive fillings and frostings and check out their nut and allergen free options.

I Love Churros
This mobile arm of Pancho’s Bakery offers up authentic Mexican churros dressed up with chocolate or dulce de leche.

Tiny Tom Donuts
An explanation is hardly needed for this CNE institution. The mini-donut factory on wheels offers up tiny donuts, fried a la minute and dusted with powdered sugar, cinnamon, chocolate or apple n’ cinnamon.

Pretty Sweet Mobile Cupcakery
Lovingly baked cupcakes with inventive flavours and fillings are this truck’s standby. Try filled cupcakes like the Brownie Blast or delicious classics like tiramisu, peanut butter chocolate or pumpkin spice. Yum!

Itty Bitty Pie Company
From mini pies to pies in a jar, pies on a stick and even pies in cookie form – what can’t you get from the Niagara based pie mobile? The only thing we can think of is: can’t get enough! Pies come in flavours like chocolate cream, peach and pina colada and toppings include crumble, marshmallow and chocolate whipped cream.

Cupcake Diner
Gourmet cupcakes baked daily from scratch, using the finest ingredients. A revolving menu of flavours includes salted caramel, lemon raspberry cheesecake and vegan chocolate.
