Gorilla Cheese come out hopeful after taking on some Dragons

By on October 30, 2014

09212013-gorillacheese-01After about 6 months of waiting, last night we finally got to watch one of my favourite food trucks, Gorilla Cheese roll into the CBC to take on the dragons of Dragons’ Den to pitch their business in hopes to take them to the next level.

As you would expect, owner Graeme Smith let his famous grilled cheese do the talking to the dragons and ultimately caught the attention and backing of restauranteur, Vikram Vij who himself owns an award winning food truck, Vij’s Railway Express out in Vancouver.

This is a great accomplishment for probably one of the hardest working guys out there who pumps out some of the best grilled cheese sandwiches I’ve ever had the pleasure of digging into. However, in a blog post shared after the show on the Gorilla Cheese website, they explained to fans that although they got the handshake in the room, the investment is far from a done deal and that “more than 80 per cent of the deals on Dragons’ Den do not make it past due-diligence,” so we’ll have to wait a little longer before we see how it all pans out for them.

On the plus side, they also broke the news that they too, like many other food trucks will officially be opening up a storefront location at 131 Ottawa St. N, known by many as where the annual Hamilton food truck festival, Sew Hungry is held each year. I’m looking forward to seeing what’s in store in the year to come for the Graeme and the Gorilla Cheese team. If you’re interested in checking out their full episode you can watch it here.
