Toronto Food Trucks Seafood

Seafood and fish lovers have plenty to celebrate as Toronto food trucks serve up an ocean of seafood choices. And we’re not just talking about fish and chips – though trucks offer some inspired versions of this old favourite, too.

Here’s a snapshot of some of the top seafood eats from Toronto food trucks.

Blue Donkey Streatery
The blue and white food truck with the fresh and fun Greek menu hits it home with their Fried Calamari Pita: a tzatziki covered pita topped with Greek salad, fries and light, crispy battered calamari.

El Gastronomo Vagabundo
A pioneer in the Canadian gourmet food truck scene, Vagabundo features a revolving menu of globally inspired, locally driven fare. Their tempura cod taco topped with wasabi tobiko and pickled ginger aioli won the best menu item award at Awestruck 2012.

Gourmet Gringos
Inspired by a cross section of Latin American cuisines, Gringos’ tasty seafood selections include Peruvian tiradito, where lightly seared tuna is served with jicama and fresh mango salad. Ceviche lovers will be happy to hear the Gringos team have also launched Nazca, completely dedicated to Peruvian cuisine with a heavy focus on seafood, including multiple types of ceviche.

Crossroads Diner
You’ll find great old fashioned comfort food at this 50s themed lunch counter on wheels, including crispy fish cakes, served 2 per order with slaw on the side.  The recipe varies: some days you’ll find salmon cakes with chipotle sauce, others it will be salt cod with mango lime chutney.

Buster’s Sea Cove
A mainstay in the St. Lawrence Market for years, Busters is also Toronto’s first all-fish, all the time, seafood truck. What do you fancy: lightly battered fish or shrimp tacos? Fresh, chunky lobster rolls? Alaskan crab rolls made with fresh mayo and mango salsa? Buster’s has you covered.

Gourmet Bitches
Toronto’s first dedicated gluten-free food truck serves up fresh, lightly fried white fish tacos with seasonal slaw and mango avocado drizzle.

Chang Noi EnRoute
This St. Catharines-based truck is an offshoot of the brick and mortar restaurant of the same name. Check out their crispy coconut crusted prawns with plum sauce and lightly fried egg rolls stuffed with chunks of lobster and creamy avocado.

Per Se mobile
Serving up a heady menu of Columbia and Miami-inspired street food,  this Latin American food truck has a rotating menu that often includes shrimp tacos – fresh tortillas loaded with tiger shrimp, topped with house made queso fresco, fresh tomato, sweet corn and a hint of cilantro.

The Feisty Jack
You can’t miss the Union Jack emblazoned on this truck that serves up modern British gastro fare along with the classics, including a knock out version of fish n’ chips made from India pale ale battered haddock with chunky fresh cut fries and homemade tartar sauce.

The Food Dudes
This busy food truck is the mobile arm of a thriving catering company that offers up cross-cultural gourmet dishes. Consider the Cap ‘n  Crunch Fish Tacos: crispy cereal coated fried fish on soft tortillas with guacamole, cabbage slaw, smoked sour cream and a slew of fresh toppings.
