In case you missed Global TV’s news story on the rising popularity of food trucks, here’s the video that aired last night.
Global reporter Minna Rhee was out Tuesday and Wednesday this week filming Gorilla Cheese, The Toasted Tangerine, The Cupcake Diner, Caplanksy’s and Food Cabbie.
I caught up with her on Wednesday in ‘Food Truck Alley’ – the strip of Queen St. E. between Dalhousie St. and Jarvis St. — and explained how we are getting weekly inquiries from people looking for information on how to start a food truck in Toronto.
And that’s just one indicator that the demand for gourmet street food is growing. I’m happy to confirm that number of people following us on Facebook and Twitter to get food truck locations continues to grow and that traffic to the website is steadily increasing month over month.
In addition, as noted by Mina Rhee in the video, we’ve seen the number of people googling ‘toronto food trucks’ increase by over 900% in the last three months alone.
In other words, people want more trucks.
The good news is, more are on the way in 2012 so stay tuned.
Below are some pictures from Wednesday – by far the nicest weather we’ve had this ‘winter’. You can also find the complete photo album on our Facebook page.
