Toronto’s food trucks looking for your support

08242012-hogtownsmoke-exteriorLast year saw Toronto’s food trucks make some great strides against the city’s strict street food vending bylaws. After some heated city hall meetings and a food truck pilot program, the city is finally ready to re-examine the current vending laws later this month that would change the food truck scene here in Toronto.

In preparation for this important city hall vote, a group of food trucks have banded together to hire a  Toronto based lobbyist group to help represent them in the fight to change the city’s laws.

The trucks have also launched an Indiegogo campaign in hopes of crowd funding their big push for change and to garner support from the city’s hungry food truck lovers. Contributing to their cause could earn supporters prizes ranging from free meal vouchers to a food truck party for 200.

The participating trucks include: Romen Chariot, The Feisty Jack, Curbside Bliss, Hogtown Smoke, Gourmet Bitches, Per Se Mobile, Pretty Sweet Cupcakes, Gourmet Gringos, Frankie Fettuccine, Beach Boys Burgers, Curbalicious, Urban Smoke BBQ, Tiny Toms and Beavertails.

The all-important Licensing and Standards committee meeting is currently set for March 18.
